Café Alma was created to provide the India Basin and Bayview community with a delicious, unique and health conscience gourmet food hub that utilizes the incredible resources of the neighborhood. Located in a community centric environment, we are more than just a restaurant- we are also an incubator for local small businesses, a community gathering space with options for private and public events and a place to relax, work, experience live music & workshops and play!

Housed in a 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse on India Basin’s beautiful shoreline, Cafe Alma is named for the scow schooner that was built at the site in 1891, which today is a National Monument on view at the Maritime Museum of San Francisco. The Alma was an important ship that transported goods all around the bay and created commerce pathways that before it didn’t exist. Our vision for Cafe Alma is that it operates much like the ship and connects people in new ways. India Basin has a deep historical importance and we are proud to pay homage to the valuable vessels and projects that were created in the shipyard and strive to acknowledge, support and enhance the amazing residents and businesses located within our community.
